Our faith is old–but our thinking is not. . .
The United Church of Christ is a mainline Protestant Christian denomination, with historical confessional roots in the Reformed, Congregational and Lutheran traditions. The United Church of Christ is in historical continuation of the General Council of Congregational Christian churches founded under the influence of New England Puritanism. The Evangelical and Reformed Church and the General Council of the Congregational Christian Churches united in 1957 to form the UCC. These two denominations, which were themselves the result of earlier unions, had their roots in Congregational, Christian, Evangelical, and Reformed denominations. At the end of 2014, the UCC’s 5,116 congregations claimed 979,239 members, primarily in the United States. The United Church of Bellows Falls is one of those congregations. We believe in a faith that is a testimony to God’s working in history, not a test of belief. We believe that we are all still works in progress.
Because–God is still speaking…
I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
